Pastoral

Il n’y a pas lieu de craindre ou d’espérer,
mais de chercher de nouvelles armes.

                                                                                               Gilles Deleuze

A broken mirror is no longer a mirror
nor any mirror nor many.

A broken glass is no longer a glass
nor any glass nor many.

There is no one infinity.

There is no endless rose.

There is no shattered song.

6 feuilles avant la fin....

En la selva silenciosa
susurra brisa suave.

A medianoche

When Moon Lies In Ambush (tr.from Manuel Martínez)

Moon lies in ambush
silhouetting palms
like herons deep in sleep,
like marble statuettes.

All one hears is
wind racing through marsh.

The slow hours pass by
& I
on guard
in the shadows
that no one may cross the frontier.

N.B.: This is not a literal translation in the main, but an attempt to bring out one cryptotype
of many, in a poem that ranges from an echo of the ancient Greek Sappho to a famous
poem of Vicente Huidobro.

When Moon Is Full....(La Luna Llena)

Cada día el sol es nuevo
y cada noche en alguna parte
con vetusta cara le sonríe luna....

Who is blue when moon is full
before the sun drowns in silhouettes
etched by treetops

consumed in the fire shadows of western skies
where die days one by one

in slithering timeless night?

Do you hear the bright snow sliding into gray?

Do you see the rain?

Do you caress her tearful tresses and feel moist earth
under denuded sole?

To-night (Nuestra Noche)

To-night

The moon is a curving flower of gold,
The sky is still and blue;
The moon was made for the sky to hold,
And I for you;

The moon is a flower without a stem,
The sky is luminous;
Eternity was made for them,
To-night for us.

Sara Teasdale

Nuestra Noche
