Sappho Alone/ Safo Sola

    
                                                Δέδυκε μὲν ἀ σελάννα
                                                καὶ Πληίαδες· μέσαι δὲ
                                                νύκτες, παρὰ δ᾽ ἔρχετ᾽ ὤρα·
                                                ἔγω δὲ μόνα κατεύδω.*


Sappho Alone
Her lyre is herself:
taut strings of words
sighing ever so softly
lingering forever....


Safo sola
Su lira es ella misma:
cuerdas tirantes de palabras,
suspirando tan bajo,
perviviendo por siempre....
